Guy played golf with today said he saved 60-70k on building materials.
Said they have one in Br, Shreveport and Nola.
Told me it was the way to go.

I went a few years ago to one of their mandatory meetings where it ended up being like a "timeshare sales meeting".
After they talked about what they could do for you they gave you like 45mins-1 hour to look around. After that the sales pitch of you need to pay us some amount of money ( about 5 thousand) if memory serves me right or else you have to leave the building and can't come back for like a year. Thought it was a pretty used car salesman approach.
Never used them and felt I did just fine on a 70k remodel.

No he didn't. He's trying to sell that garbage to you.
If you have absolutely no concern for how your house looks or the quality of the interior, go for it. Otherwise laugh in his face and then kick him in the balls for being such an a-hole.
Oh wait, you are just a troll. Go ahead and buy it.

He built his house 4 years ago.
Dude owns two houses in La and one in Fla and doesnt need to sell me anything.. I wished I made the money he does.
Why you so mad?
You sound mad and poor.

Do you have a quote on the materials necessary to build your house from the GC? Or an idea about the allowances he'd give you to spend on the materials if you provided them yourself for the build?
If not, then you need to wait. Direct Buy is ALL about the hard sell. If you don't know exactly what you need right then and there, then the time they let you spend puttering around their warehouse and checking their prices is wasted for you, and then you're faced with a hard sell.
Paying four or five grand to be a member-for a year-and *maybe* coming out even on the build after you account for the membership cost.
Or walking away and getting kicked out from the schpiel for a year.
I can tell you this much...Sign up your enemies for their referral e-mails. I had someone-and I think I know who it was-that signed my cell number and e-mail address.
Those frickers pawned me off to an overseas call center doing robocall solicitations. They called me at 8pm Friday, 9am Saturday, and 11am Sunday. After a 2:30pm call which ended in one of the foreign reps cursing at me and hanging up threatening to call me daily for the next year that Monday, I called their home office and asked to speak to corporate PR.
They didn't call me. Ever again.
Be careful. You don't always get what you pay for.

From what I know of the company and your posting history, sounds like it would be perfect for you. Go for it.

I was fed up at the office when they called me so I went off in some unique ways. Ole boy across the seas was not a fan of me having some fun at his expense.
