"Domestic" is a term of art in hospitality. Next time you are at a restaurant offering deals on "domestic" beers, try to order an Abita and see what they say
Or better yet see if they list it as domestics when offering specials.
The bartender should have used a better description though. No Big 3 or their variations, but people would argue that.

My 2 cents [ I've been to Pelican House three separate times]:
I waited for this bar to open all throughout April and was a little disappointed on how poorly they used social media in the beginning. The first time my SO and I visited PH was late one friday night, which was a huge mistake on our parts because we had no idea that PH was supposed to be direct competition w/ Bulldog. In the end we didn't stay at PH long that night.
On our second visit, we went on a Saturday evening. Everything at the bar was much more chill and the bartenders were welcoming imo. The only negative that we both agreed on is that PH should have done a better job on the design of the menu's they offered customers. It basically looked like management printed out all of the beers, liquor & food on a spreadsheet. Then stapled it together and called it a day.
The last time I visited PH was during the week before LSU's graduation. Management looked like they were already working on the outdoor patio area [which is a huge positive imo]. Management also explained to my SO's parents that they hand hired members from both Bulldog & The Cove.....
I have mix feelings about PH at the moment. It great that management is trying to keep the beers as refresh as possible and have a lively atmosphere. But, i tend to agree with some of the posters who said that the food was a bit "blah" and that it came out slowly.
