This is one of those debates that could go either way and probably won't be resolved until their entire baseball career is over. Gray came into an extremely hostile environment, probably the biggest he's ever seen and pitched as well as someone can in that spot. I see why he was drafted so high and ill root for him on the next level. Nola did what he had to do: pitch strikes, rely on his great defense and be aggressive in the counts.
The better man tonight is Nola, but it's too close to call who's better overall

Umm so you agree that he throws four pitches? Very good.
I can count the "repertoire" pitches he threw tonight on one hand and there were only three or four for strikes.
Anyways, I am still agreeing that he is the better prospect.

The only way this could be proven is if they faced the same batters. Which they didn't.
LSU>Oklahoma. That's what I learned tonight.

Agreed to LSU > Oklahoma
Also fun fact and maybe Germans but gray struck out every lsu starter in the lineup but McMullen.

He didn't need them tonight and sometimes a pitch doesn't work on a particular night. He most certainly can throw four pitches and can use them all at the next level. His change up is very solid. He will be up in the big leagues soonquote:

Is it Opposite Day?

Auto correct. You can figure it out. So I'll say not sure where you get information since you seem to like that line. But Gray most certainly can use four pitches and his change up is a very solid pitch

Gray only had his fastball and slider. Nice pitches but he needs to develop a third pitch (change up?) to move up to the next level.
Teams with good hitters will catch up to a pitcher like Gray on the third or fourth go around.

Nola's great, but not a top 3 pick in the draft! He left pitches up in the zone all day. OU just couldn't capitalize.

No he really didn't.

Nola's a top 5 prospect for next years draft. They just said it on baseball tonight. Right behind beede of vandy. Sorry no link.

I thought Nola did an excellent job of keeping the ball down all night.
Nola is a first round and easily a possible top 10 pick in his own right.
Keep in mind he knows how to pitch and is only a sophomore. Undefeated for the season.. Just remarkable going against all these aces in the SEC and whatnot. All these complete games he's thrown of recent.
This is what Florida's coach said of him,

“I don’t think he threw a single pitch above the mast,” O’Sullivan said. “He’s got a feel for throwing the ball in the low part of the (strike) zone. What he’s showing us is a professional strike. It’s at the knees, and he threw a quality session.”

Everyone saying Gray faced more quality hitters, while this is true, at the next level, every player will be that caliber hitter. He dealt some stuff tonight, and got in a bind, it happens.
Overall throughout the season though, Nola has seen the better hitters top to bottom. Gray was great, but Nola was on his game.
I don't know if you can say one was better, but Nola got the W, all that matters here.
Don't know why LSU needs to measure dicks after beating them.

Not that it matters, but Nola has been doing what he did tonight against SEC lineups all season long. It's not his fault that OU is impotent. He pitched a two hit CGSO. Gray faced a better lineup, but gave up 5 hits and 2 earned runs. If Gray played in the SEC, he'd have more than 2 losses (now 3 thanks to LSU) and his ERA would take a hit.

or ou's hitters were not as good as lsu's bats

LSU is greater than UO!
Better doesn't matter. Who wins is what matters. NOLA 1 Gray 0

This was Mr. Nola's opus (to date).
I hope my grandfather, may he rest in peace, was able to 'see' that game.
He loved pitchers' duels.
Nola was two pitches better than Gray, at minimum.
What just transpired in Game 1 was an absurdly technical showing by both starters.

FACT....... GRAY did a great job AT LSU in front of 10,000. NOLA had a GREAT GREAT game. Pitched a gem........... But there is a reason GRAY was the #3 pick...........
