Mourinho has won four major European leagues in the last 10 years, 2 CL's, a bevy of semifinal apeparances, multiple domestic Cups with all sorts of squads and players. Good managers have a system but know how, and are willing to tweak it, to get the most out of the squad. This is what will happen.

I'm not sure what your formation is. Also I think the Luiz-Ramires pivot is lacking in passing, though it would work defensively. If Mourinho is to build a counterattacking side, there needs to be someone who can pass deep out of midfield.

You also need wingers who are fast and willing to defend. I could see Mata flourishing in a role similar to Fabregas's in 2009-10, basically a shadow striker who works an axis with a CF who can hold up play. Both players are slow as shite, but are dynamic with the ball at their feet.

All this depends on what kind of side Mourinho wants to build. I don't think he will build a high-energy pressing side, as that didn't work with AVB.

Of course. There might be no one better than Mourinho in adapting to his players on hand. But what do you think his inclination is going to be? Under Di Matteo, the defensive positioning of the withdrawn forward line was all over the place. That was fixed under Benetiz, but the attack became less dynamic. There is going to be a significant trade-off somewhere. I still think Mourinho is going to look for a DLP who is positionally astute and can start attacks from deep.
