How evil is Steam?

-You can't trade games once they are in your library!
-You can't resell them or trade them in to a reseller for credit!
-Most games have some sort of DRM that makes you sign in just to go offline and play!
-You must connect to Steam every so often to continue playing your games!
-The home page is nothing but ads for games they are trying to sell you!
Not sure how a gaming service like this has ever survived or will in the future on any platform!

What if Xbox announces $40 new titles? Is that a possibility with this console?

Pricing doesn't matter when I can't even trade or share my games and HAVE to check in every so often just to keep playing!!!!!!!!!

No one knows. Everyone here is better at jumping to their own conclusions instead of waiting for E3 next week.

You have a valid point but for one difference. $60 vs $20.

I didn't post here a lot last week actually.

I don't know what's funnier. The hate or the damage control.
This is directed at you.

Many games on Steam start off at full price actually. They go down in a matter of weeks usually though. We have yet to see if that will be possible with the next gen.
People forget that Gamestop is pretty good about keeping console game prices inflated. They have to in order to make money on their used game sales. If the trade in market were to cease to exist or be severly altered in some way then maybe devs could lower their pricing faster?

I sincerely hope developers get their asses handed to them initially and bump costs down to a more reasonable level for us. Since they will be getting a ton more business.

I saw a few just released games yesterday that were only 49.99. Not top tier games (Grid 2), but still cheaper than anywhere else at this point.

I think it's all been overhyped instead of waiting for things to play out next week. I have a feeling many people here will be backtracking soon.

quote:Wait, you think developers are going to lower prices? That's an honest question. I would imagine developing a game and selling it for $60 is probably too low of a new game price point, at least for the developer.
then maybe devs could lower their pricing faster?
That's without knowing any facts, though. Per the usual.

Yea a lot of games usually start at $50 vs $60 for console but games like Far Cry 3, Bioshock Infinite, etc kept their full price value on Steam for a long time.
