Derek will be back later though when Peter goes apeshit and does whatever stupid evil plot he has against Scott.
I'd guess that killing Scott and his pack to get all of Scotts power would make him a demon wolf strength wise.
Good finale though, sucks it's over till next year.

So I'm a little confused as to what actually happened to the Deucalion (sp?) guy. Did getting his sight back turn him back into just a regular werewolf, or is he still a demon wolf? They kind of left his story hanging and without a whole lot of closure.
