Had a Loose Cannon in the back of the fridge from football season. Sell by date said Dec 2012 but it tastes fine to me right now. How long would is have kept in the fridge?

What does the FBD krewe say? These hops aren't getting any younger? Something like that. Anyhow, drink it now.

IPAs can last a while, but the hops flavors fade over time and are best consumed fresh. I wouldn't hesitate to drink a year-old IPA, knowing it might taste more like a pale ale. I wouldn't pay for one though.

if I have old beer I wait until someone has a party and bring it all with me, at the end of the night it will get drank and no one will care.

The original IPA's were brewed in England and made to ship to India. It was thought that this style of beer would last longer and survive the voyage - although there is some question as to whether this is true.

I always thought the belief was that the IPA was hopped to taste like a regular pale ale by the time it reached India.

I am no beer historian though. makes sense when you hear people talk about the hops fading.

Our brew club is reading a book about this very thing. Im 20 pages in. It's about a guy who tries to recreate the beer and journey while also teaching a little history. I'll fill y'all in on it in a few weeks when I finish.
