Any of you bitcoin bashers big Taleb fans?

Full disclosure:
I know very little about bit coins
I have very little interest in bit coins
I don't own any bit coins, nor do I mine them or have anything to do with them for that matter.
In fact, if it weren't for tigerdroppings, I probably wouldn't even know wtf a bit coin is.
All the being said, it seems like people go out of their way to bring them up constantly here even when it's not relevant to the discussion at all.
If any of you have read Antifragile by Taleb you might know what I'm getting at here. At what point does all the screaming from the mountain top start to give it credibility? If it's not a big deal, why bring it up? It makes me wonder sometimes if the people that constantly deride bit-coins might be a little bit insecure in their own opinion on the matter. Or maybe they fear the success of bit coins for whatever reason.
The people that deride bit coins the most are the ones that are making me want to take an interest in it.

Just to add some fuel to this thread:
Taleb on bitcoin:

Taleb on bitcoin:
quote:
Bitcoin is the beginning of something great: a currency without a government, something necessary and imperative. But I am not familiar with the specific product to assert whether it is the best potential setup. And we need a long time to establish confidence. I only talk from skin-in-the-game. If I had money in bitcoin, I would have reported it. But I don't yet. I am waiting to understand it better, not with my brain, but with my experience...

Interesting. I never actually bothered to see what he had to say on the matter.

Doesn't matter. They'll just move the goal post even further.

Because it's humorous dickhole, GFY

When it crashes again i will absolutely throw $500-$1000 at it & play devils advocate on here for my own amusement.
It'll be fun for me knowing I have a bigger stake than wiki and josh, even though it will probably get hacked and i'll lose it all
To be clear, sub $50 i'm going in, will provide full updates

Exactly the high brow discussion I was expecting from one of the most infamous idiots shouting from the mountain top.

Two things intrigue me about bit coin:
The controlled, finite supply and what that will do down the road. I don't think there has ever been a means of exchange on a macro scale with a finite supply.
Also, what the government will do to choke it off once (if) it takes off. The strengths of the government are in attacking it at the point of exchange and the computing power/cyber trickery to mess with the infrastructure and specific exchanges.
It is a very intriguing idea, though.

Honestly other than bit coins I haven't read anything else you talk about
Are you mentally retarded or just sarcastic on this particular issue?
You strike me as being severely stupid. But most MT posters aren't. What gives?

Well his complaint before was often "where are the VCs?????"
When VCs started getting into bitcoin he claimed that they weren't really getting into bitcoin.
Now he's moved on to just making (unfunny) joke responses.

Alright seriously, you are a douche bag. You know jack shite about investing, you pretend to be intelligent by bragging about an ETF you happened to have made made money on, once. You probably didn't even buy it, you probably put it in a stock simulator on investopedia.com.
You're a phony, & I'm sick of your fricking mouth.

You're right. I know dick about investing. It isn't my field. And I got lucky with that ETF. Until I took an absolute beating last week with it tumbling. So there is your evidence that I don't know shite. Big fricking deal. I'm an engineer and not a seasoned investor.
You still seem like a fricking dipshit.

Yeah I said that already, glad you agree.

Right. And that doesn't change the fact that I envision you as being a shite chucking ape. Even if you know more about investing than me.
Big fricking deal. You're still a clown.

Remember that arguing with personal attacks, not substance, will get your point across
