The only bad reviews ive really seen anywhere on it are from people that couldn't wait a couple episodes before passing judgement on it and instantaneously called it terrible

I enjoyed the hell out of that season

I'm at episode 8 and it's really starting to come together. I'm tired of giving people the benefit of the doubt anymore. They're just dumb and there's no two ways about it.

Seems to me, on a service like Netflix, they could tell how many people are watching. The number of subscribers watching the show > Critics reviews.

Edit: Netflix has 30million subscribers, roughly. If a tenth watched the series, thats still more people than it probably averaged when it was on Fox, and still more than watch regular tv.

To illustrate further, even if only 5% watched, its still a higher percentage than regular TV.

I haven't seen any episodes yet, and I'm staying away from spoiler threads. But I wonder how many people followed Mitch Hurwitz' advice on not binge watching the show and taking their time with it.

Also, though I've stayed away from spoilers, I've read that it does start to gel the further you go so I imagine the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. And that it's going to be very rewatchable.

critics' mixed reviews

It only matters what the streamers think, not the critics. The main reason they produced the show is because they know there's a built in audience, not because they thought it would get them critical acclaim.

i can tell you, after being disappointed with the first three episodes i watched the entire series and thought it was hilarious

then i went back to the first few episodes and they were great all of a sudden

the season doesnt rely on recycled jokes

it builds new jokes, so people ned to be patient while the spiderweb is spun

Having a stock drop 6% on mixed reviews of one of it's offerings might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life.

If the show was a disaster I could see investors being concerned long term about Netflix's ability to drive subscriptions using original programming but it is anything but a disaster. I'm about 10 minutes from finishing the season and I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

This experiment was destined to get some bad reviews because it was going to be built up so much that some people were going to be impossible to please.

It is very important that this emerging business model for streaming services offering original content isn't hampered by crap like Netflix's move today. It's the only way to defeat the big content providers long term and must be kept pushing forward.

Some interesting info you might want to know:
I googled, and AD's original run avg about 6 million viewers. So if 5 million watched on Netflix, thats 16% of Netflix subscriber base.

Compare that to Game of Thrones, who's record is 6.8 million viewers. HBO has about 32 million viewers. Thats 21%

you've gotta believe the big cable companies and networks that are against streaming "networks" like Netflix producing their own shows for a la carte viewing are hoping that netflix's AD resurrection fails

so im also curious as to the motives of some of the critics

im cynical though

And GoT is deservedly a cultural phenomenon.

Pulling in a higher percentage of the Netflix subscriber base than GoT does for HBO and being punished by investors would be unjust, but the stock market is often illogical, especially when it comes to tech related entities.

I don't see any reason for this. AD isn't some deep show that you have to let each episode sink in or anything
