Dragon's Dogma - Board's Opinion

I picked this game up a little while back and I gotta say that it isn't exactly my cup of tea.
I haven't gotten that far, but the constant back and forth running with the same enemies that spawn in the same spots has gotten pretty tiring.
Yea, it is an RPG, so repetitive should be assumed, but it just seems to have gotten old a lot faster than other games.
Also, is there a way to shut your followers up?! Seriously, they never shut the frick up. Yes, Blumpkin, I understand there is a goblin right there. I've killed that same goblin 15 times already. STFU!
Does it get better as the game goes on?

My favorite game of 2012 and way underappreciated IMO. Hopefully the sequel comes out on PC unlike the first.
Much better. The game doesn't really pick up until you reach Gran Soren. It starts off very slow but gets a lot more fun once you get to that point. I will say that having to run to every location can get tiring but I enjoyed the game enough to deal with it. That, plus fast travel would remove all survival aspects of the scary nighttime environment. It was pretty awesome to try to rush my way to a nearby camp as the sun slowly set in order to avoid the danger in the complete darkness.
I love the repetitive pawn quotes.

It's not so difficult if you hire my souped up pawn, but if you leave me rotten fish as a reward you will find negative feedback.

Did you get the new Dark Arisen version? You get 10 portcrystals, even on your first playthrough, and the price of ferrystones is halved.
If not, beating the game once and unlocking New Game Plus will make travel faster. Not that you are interested in doing this.
Probably the second most common complaint about the game behind the lack of fast travel. It never bothered me to the point where I wanted to stop playing, but there is a toggle somewhere in the options menu to shut them up if you'd like.
