I would hope it's on the decline. Digital distribution has put PC games sales in a really good place but it just sucks to see developers who focus on the PC get sales taken away because of piracy.

Agreed. Sadly the result of this will be DRM whether we like it or not. It sucks but it's also understandable to a degree.

I think Minecraft had a good formula though and they didn't have tons of piracy for as big as that game has been. Give away one version for free to get people hooked.

If more games had demos on Steam it would reduce piracy even more. I admit I have pirated a few games because I couldn't find demos and I wasn't sure if I could justify buying the game. I have bough like 4 out of the 6 I did pirate though because I strictly used it for demo reasons. The other two I didn't like so I didn't buy or keep playing.
