some of these numbers/players should be discorded but they are in ink so...!
i'ld raise the offer to 15-17mil/4 years with 4th year option. something minny has trouble matching. not much argument he doesnt deserve.

I think Minnesota is up against it with the salary cap, right? Would they be more inclined to move Love and keep Pek? Does Love get substantial mins at the 5?
Minny is at $47m right now with another $5m in options to Dante Cunningham and Greg Stiemsma. This assumes that AK47 picks up his $10m player option.
They can match an offer to Pekovic if they see him as a "Big Three" player for them along with Love and Rubio, but it means they're standing pat as far as their roster.
They'd be allowed to use the Bird rights to guys like Chase Budinger to re-sign them, but they couldn't bring anyone new in and would have trouble making trades.
As far as Love goes, he used to split time between the 4 and the 5, but has generally played the 4 the last two seasons.
He's good offensively at the 5 but doesn't appear to be good at it defensively.

minny is at 47mil without pek so unless pek gets offered real money from another team, minny will keep him. if they give him 15mil, its only a team salary of 62mil. and if they shed other guys. we might as well give up on him.

Pekovic's only got about 3-4 years in the league.
That means the first year of his contract will be limited to about 25% of the salary cap, which would be $13.6m for the 2012-2013 season.

How drunk were you when you were doing this thread last night? Even if they could pay him 15m+, that's just crazy. We aren't that starved for a Center..

i just think the 5 is a crap shoot position to draft for...more times than not you will miss...i dont see us with a top 3 pick anytime soon and Pek is by far the best C available...he is an instant upgrade to our front court....if the idea is to win in the next 3-4 years he is arguably a must sign player.
i think everyone can agree that the 3 and 5 positions are of equal need in upgrading followed by the 1...our 4 is set and our 2 is good enough if EG can play...fingers crossed 60 games this year...

From Wiki..
"The maximum amount of money a player can sign for is contingent on the number of years that player has played and the total of the salary cap. The maximum salary of a player with 6 or fewer years of experience is either $9,000,000 or 25% of the total salary cap (2010–11: $14,511,000), whichever is greater"
The cap for next season is 58 million x 25% is 14.5 million.
