Link one. I'd like to learn.
If you really are interested, i'll start a thread about it on the soccer board later tonight after I get off work. Should be able to get some good clips together.

The frick does this even mean?
An exciting play should be exciting and should come off as exciting.
I watched the Redskins/Bills Super Bowl with a German foreign exchange student who had never played or seen any American sport. By the second quarter he was totally into the game. Obviously the atmosphere has something to do with that, but my point is, it was easy to get into.
Unfortunately for soccer, just like hockey, isn't as easy to get excited about on TV. Which is what appeals to an American audience. Baseball and hockey are awesome at the venues, and lousy on TV.

How can you be such a huge fan of a sport where acting hurt and wasting time is such an integral part of the game?
Didn't you claim to play soccer?

I bet the German kid would disagree.

where acting hurt
Doesn't play that big of a part. Sometimes guys stay on the ground for about 15 extra seconds just to grab a breath.

wasting time
Happens in every sport.

I think if the World Cup ever came back to the US, it would help. It came too soon.

played it when I was a kid, like most kids.

You act like this takes up the majority of the match. The classic excuse.

And you came to the conclusion faking injuries and time wasting was unique to soccer?

Come on man. Come on. Players flap all over the place in soccer and cry and scream on the ground. it is a stigma that soccer carries. At least make sense when responding. It makes the discussion better on all accounts.

No more than basketball. You're being so dense in this it's almost sad.

You're talking about something that happens MAYBE once or twice a game. Even then, it's more prevalent in the Spanish and Latin leagues.

LOL its a valid excuse. Soccer is a sport that carries a universal stigma for players acting hurt. This cannot be denied. I'm not shitting on anyone for liking soccer, you like what you like, but to say soccer players don't act hurt and that it is not a big part of the game is ridiculous.

A. How many times have you watched a match?
B. How long did you watch said matches?
C. How much time did this flopping take place?

D. Oh, the irony.

No one said it didn't happen, but you're making it sound like it's an integral part of the game, which it isn't. You may think it is, but until you've seen a few matches you'll know that's not true.
Heck, the NBA had to put an anti-flopping rule in because a lot of the fouls were being simulated. The percentage is way higher.

No more than basketball, and football is getting that way too.

Says the guy that admittedly knows nothing of the game.

Cute, but you're full of shite. Have any stats to back up your claims, or just soccer hating talking points?

Never played it. Dad didn't want his son to turn into a vag!
