The Detroit Lions are expected to create and operate a new bowl game at Ford Field starting in 2014, which would eliminate the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl after this season, sources said Tuesday.
The Lions are in negotiations with the Big Ten to have a Big Ten team annually in the new bowl game in Detroit, sources said. The Big Ten's opponent would no longer be from the Mid-American Conference, a source said. A team from the ACC is the most likely opponent for the Big Ten, sources said.

Combining a trip to Detroit in the winter with how well ACC fanbases travel to bowls, no way this can't be a success.

I'd like to see it. Theyve had interesting non B10/Mac Teams play there (BC, UConn, Memphis when DeAngelo Williams was there, etc.)

ACC fans won't even travel to Charlotte/Jacksonville for their own championship game and now you're asking them to go to Detroit. This will be a huge failure.

Would the Lions even be allowed to hold a bowl game?
