Hardly any course strategy is utilized. Get up to ball, smash it as hard as you can, find it and smash again.
while I agree I want to see the driver and ball be toned back some, I think making the rough thicker and thicker greatly penalizes the players who just smash it every hole as far as they can

anchoring the putter takes out all the nerves in putting. Its pretty much put it on line with good speed and it drops. There are so many things that go into a regular putting stroke that is minimized when anchoring the putter

Yup, if the Tour won't make a tour specific ball the golf courses need to fight back and make the rough longer. If you miss the fairway you must be severely penalized.

Short hitter eh? Getting tired of your buddies ripping it 80 yards past you?

Not at all, just think a premium needs to be placed on accuracy so classic courses aren't obsolete.

Agree with the ban. Anchoring allows a player who otherwise would be losing strokes to gain an advantage by taking their hands out of the stroke. Golf is played by "swinging" the club not anchoring the club. This is not an equipment rule... It's the way the club is held and it will affect some players big time.
Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson, Adam Scott all better figure it out or they will be gone

Has not played really well since winning the '12 US Open despite using one about his whole life

SOMEHOW, even while using an anchored putter, taking ALL nerves out of it, missed a 4 footer this past weekend to lose...

It is not as cut-and-dried as some you guys amke it out to be.

4 of the last 6 majors were won by people using anchored putters so tiger would have won at least 3 of those if it werent for the cheaters...

I agree with the ban for the reason some have stated...this is about the way a stroke is placed on the ball. :inb4twss:

As for the drivers and balls, I think that's coming in one way or another. I think the USGA is using Merion next month as a referendum on those issues. If they set up that course firm and fast and avoid rain, and the players still go low on the 6996 yard track, I think we'll see the USGA use that as evidence that the equipment is hurting the game. If the winner is around even, the USGA will just say things are fine.

It's not fool proof...no doubt. There will still be putts missed when anchoring. The ones anchoring the putter are most likely shitty putters to begin with. That's why they've switched to anchoring. So the argument can be made that they would be even shittier without the ability to anchor.

still dont understand how the Kuchar method is being allowed? Kuchar is one of my favorite players but I dont get the difference between what he does and anchored to chest or belly?

anchoring is for douches anyway.

the forearm is an extension of the hand and that is what Kuchar does. his arm is still moving thus he is still swinging the club, not making an anchored pendulum off a fixed point of the belly or chest aligned directly over the ball. Big difference

Meah...

Doesn't affect me one way or the other. Would get no enjoyment out of anchored putter.

But I don't really see any difference between this and locked arms rotating at the waist. JMHO.
