The 1st thing ESPN said about the injury last Thursday night was he would probably be out until regionals (which turned out to be false anyway).

But why would you rush him back for meaningless games this wknd???

He read the Rant (like every other LSU athlete), got really sad, and doesn't want to play anymore because people were saying mean stuff about him.

According to the story in today's Advocate, he had previously injured it but it was only minor. At some point recently he "aggravated it when he dropped a tv he was carrying". FWIW.

He was carrying a tv while moving apartments and fell. Braced himself and hurt his hand. He played against UNO with the injury, and could have continued to play with it. But we have a national seed wrapped up, so the coaches decided he'd rest it til regionals. Jacoby was actually upset they weren't letting him play, especially since it was Ole Miss because he's from MS.

Is it just me, or do baseball players suffer an inordinate amount of stupid injuries? Some examples are of guys being hurt carrying deer meat up stairs, jumping on trampolines, cleaning a blender, high-fiving a teammate, shoveling snow, tripping over a table in a hotel room at 5:00 a.m., etc., etc.

Are baseball players just huge doofuses? Are they pussies who just can't play through pain? Are they in such bad shape that they hurt themselves doing mundane things? OR, are they covering up what really happened (some drunken mishap) by giving us these ridiculous excuses? I lean towards the latter being the case most of the time.
