Will be launching at the mouth of the Tchefuncta in a little flat boat. We have 10 traps to set out, where would you put them?

well make sure you go straight out into the lake for at least a half a mile before you turn, shite gets down to 2 feet and it will bend up your prop blade

Be very carefull with a flat boat in the lake. If you can get out, look for other crab trap, sometimes I think you could walk across Manchac Pass due to all the buoys...

But we always go that way in the flat boat, but at a slow speed. We have some redfish honey holes along the shore out the mouth. Best part is that normal sized boats can't get there

i wouldn't even call it straight out, its more like you have to hang a fricking straight right for a mile before you turn.

Yea, if you have a boat over 18ft with a 115 or more on the back, definitely follow the channel markers a half mile right before heading into the lake. I've seen too many ppl run straight out and knock the transom off by hitting submerged stumps

Anyone care to help out a newbie crab trapper?

Find crab bouy in lake, check trap, move in to next one and try not to get shot.
