Pop is not better than Phil. Better than Phil in X's and O's? Are you serious? Phil? Phil Jackson?
Phil's X's and O's relied on tex winter and the triangle
phil was always lauded for being able to mend personalities. He also had the luxury or always having the best player in the league during his time.

Exactly. Which leaves the other coaches fishing for talent. But you have to be a hell of a coach to coach superstars to a ring.

1. Pop
2. Thibs
3. Spo has a chance to get here. The heat are playing phenomenal this year, but I expected them to gel quicker. Their first season together was an underachievement and spo was atrocious in the Finals. No way I could put him above the top two after watching that.

Everybody knows Winter is a huge reason for the success, but to say Phil only managed personalities I just don't buy.

yup, no doubt.
Pop really has been able to do both. As well as identify talent.
He has written the book on how to build a dynasty. It has always been more than just 1 or 2 players. Mostly it has all been homegrown and not artificially constructed like some of those Laker teams

Maybe 3 straight playoff appearances but not 3 straight titles.
you realize one of the big reasons Dallas beat Miami was because Rick Carlisle absolutely schooled Spo in the coaching department don't you?
That Heat would have been a hell of a lot better with Pop coaching.
You're acting like getting 3 dudes who are friends to play nice is a huge accomplishment. These Heat players are nothing like Phil having to deal with ego maniacs like MJ, Pippen, Shaq, and Kobe.

And what of Pop's luxuries? Is Tim Duncan and company just chopped liver?

Right because you know for a fact any other coach not named Phil Jackson could've took the Heat to the finals and won.

i didnt say he only managed personalties
but Winter was the X and O guy on offense. At least know what you're talking about

NO... Because you are making a fool of yourself here. Just making sure you have followed the game for more than three years..........

It was Spo's first year in the finals, not to mention one of the youngest if not the youngest coach.

It is.

Tim Duncan was a great luxury. But they found guys like Manu and Parker very late in the draft.
It's not like they signed a bunch of Free agents or made shoddy trades like the Lakers have done. The Spurs have truly been built from the bottom. And Pop's hands are all over it.

Once Duncan, Parker, and Ginobli retire I wonder what will become of Pop and the Spurs.

I'm sorry butt it really isn't a big deal to get Miami's big three to play team ball. They are all good friends. They already play with each other on the Olympic squad. Its not tough to meld those guys together compared to what Phil did in Chicago and LA. I'm sorry but it is nowhere near the same thing and you bringing it up as a feather in Spo's cap is asinine.
and so what if it was Spo's first year?
That has nothing to do with the fact that there were at least 3 other coaches in the NBA THAT year who could have easily coached that Heat team to a title in Phil, Pop, and Carlisle. The Heat lost those Finals in huge part to coaching. All three of the guys I mentioned would have been able to coach that Heat squad to victory over Dallas. Spo got his arse handed to him in that series and had no idea how to adjust. Even then The Heat only went down 4-2.
So to say Pop wouldn't have won with them? Sorry but that is dumb as all get out.

its gonna be tough, but Parker still has some good years left, and a guy like Kawai Leonard may be able to take a huge step forward and lead a team.
Danny Green also pretty solid young player.
still, its hard to replace Duncan and Ginobili. They'll need to luck out on more draft picks or over seas players.
