Took the yak out this morning, got out later than I wanted about 9:30. Launched at Reggio marina. First cast, the top 6 inches of my rod snaps off. Must've broken it on the ride or something. Took some pliers and cut off the reminder to the next eye but line kept getting caught in the fiberglass. Forgot my anchor and it was a bit too windy to not have one but I made do. LOTS of grass. Broken marsh was pretty much unfishable.
Came upon Sloopy and he was heading in. Said he caught a few in a big open pond with a gold spoon. So I headed that way and switched from my top dog. Double foot hoist below.
Sloopy did you see that monster gator by that truck? Head was probably at least 20".
Met TheUnderDog on my way in. Only 2 OBers I've ever met in person. Fun day. Will try that area again.

I didn't see the gator and I'm glad I didn't because the gars kept scaring the shite out off me. I saw about 10 huge arse gars having a feeding frenzy/wrestling match early in the morning, I swear they were as big as the yak I was in. How did you end up doing? Did you stay in that large pond? Nice fish. I just caught one. Stayed in that pond until 12:30 and headed back. Wind and grass was pissing me off! Haha

It was a perception. It worked out well, but I wish I didn't have to sit with the ice chest between my legs. It was a buddies, if I buy one it will probably be a 12' ascend or something similar in price.
