what I like about it is that it's a tangible thing (unlike say Heat) that has local flare (unlike Utah Jazz or Los Angeles Lakers)

you can watch a Pelican fly and dive... you can see a Hornet and hear it buzz by you

it's something the people the team owner is trying to sell to can identify with and get excited about

You mean you didn't want to see the Miami Heat vs the New Orleans Humidity winner play the OKC Thunder?
