i would scrap the game's story and try and find a good screenwriter to use the concept of the animus and whatnot. i think it would be a pretty cool ending to have the worlds bleed together at the end like in AC1

Probably that it's a video game movie and aside from a few rare exceptions they've usually failed.
That said, the fact that Fassbender has signed up has me intrigued. And I think you can pull the story off in a movie on loosely based terms. I'll go see it simply because I love the games.

is what baffles me. how on earth did they lure him in.
may very well end up one of those cases where actor is swapped at last minute

I really want a great AC movie, but I think its real weakness will come from the story. It's going to be difficult to sell the Animus I think. Specifically, I think they would have more success making movies about individual ancestors of Desmond (movie about Altair during Crusades, Ezio in Renaissance) and just scrap the whole end of the world/animus plot
