Thibs said he doesn't see why Jimmy Butler wouldn't be starter next season, not exactly a revelation.
Does this mean Deng is on the block or Butler will start at SG?

I can see them moving Deng...but I don't see them wanting Gordon.

I don't want to see a sickly Deng come to NOLA. Let's just bench Gordon's arse until he plays.

Deng was already going to be on the block as a cost-saving measure.
Bulls management is notoriously cheap. They won't want to pay the repeat-offender luxury tax, nor will they use the amnesty on Boozer to create $15m in cap room the next few years.
The only ways left to cut costs are to trade Deng for cap relief or find a taker for Taj Gibson before his extension kicks in.

Gordon to Indiana seems like a likely destination for me, but who would they give up for Gordon?

Granger, who is even more gimped that Gordon.

Indiana doesn't have any pieces that they would give us for Gordon.
Edit: Besides Granger...can't see us wanting him at this point.

On local sports radio here in Lafayette, a rumor was thrown out by one of the hosts with the Pelicans sending their top pick this year to the Bulls for Deng. He said he had heard this from one of the local NOLA media guys he knows. How would people feel about that?

Hibbert but i'm not sure that's beneficial either.

Uh... NO.
Deng's on an expiring contract, has injury issues, and is currently all fricked up.
I'd be willing to take that on as a salary dump by the Bulls, but not sending a top 10 pick for him.

Bulls fan here.
Butler is starting at SG next season for sure, unless the Bulls can bring in Kevin Love in a deal, in which Butler would go to Minnesota or another team.
Either that or Deng would go to Minnesota.
Otherwise Deng is not going anywhere. Thibs thinks very highly of Deng, and I doubt Bulls management will want to piss him off after the way this season went.

I'd do a Gordon for Deng + Cha'16

Hibberts looking awfully good in these playoffs. Didn't they just give him a big contract? I can't see them wanting Indy to move him. He defends the rim very well.

I would definitely do it, I've been wanting to trade the pic for a veteran for awhile. I think Deng fits perfectly on this team.

Of course.

This. Deng is a good player, but he's going to be overpaid next season at $14.5m. I'd think that if we strike out in FA and want Deng, our being able to take him on without sending back any salary would be attractive to them. Maybe an AFA sign&trade if they were interested.

Sounds like something Fletcher would say

This is just stupid. It's not a recurring or lingering issue. The guy had a severe virus then a setback from a spinal tap (rather intrusive test). The timing sucked huge nuts for the Bulls, but to imply that Deng is damaged goods is just silly.
