Anyone seen this? It's based on a true story about how Napa Valley finally became acceptable as good wine around the world. It's pretty good. A ton of B list actors and no A list actors...except Chris Pine (and he's not A list quite yet).

I really enjoyed it.

Yep...really enjoyed it. We watched it when we came back from Wine Country. We had gone to Kunde Winery where the movie was filmed and learned about it there. Really liked it.

I watched it in theatres when it came out. Don't remember all that much about it other than liking it at the time. I'm adding a lot to the discussion here.

Enjoyable is probably a good word for it. It's not a great film, but I'm glad I watched it.

Alan Rickman is as A list as it gets. Hans Gruber and Professor Snape are probably 2nd only to Darth Vader as iconic bad guys.

Watched it maybe 30 times now. I ALWAYS drink a glass of wine while watching.

Damn. That's a LOT!

Althought Netflix was having MAJOR issues for me the other night so I rewatched parts of it possibly 5x.

All of their wines were pretty damn good. One of the best wineries we visited. They were really nice and gave us a private tour free.

Its personal to me, had the 91 cab with tournedos provencal at Commanders the first nice dinner out with my future wife way back in 95, so its kind of "our" wine. It was the beginning of a fine dining odyssey that has spanned the globe.

It's got Bill Pullman in it, too. He was at one point A list. And Alan Rickman, who I would say is A list.

But whatever. The movie is fantastic. Well worth your time.

Well I guess none of them are LEAD actors. I guess my understanding of A list and B list is wrong. I thought A list was only actors w/ leading roles.

How dare you say Captain Kirk isn't A-list

Yeah I can see that. But if that's your understanding then Chris Pine is definitely an A-Lister. It's not even a question really.

Well that's why I said maybe since he's only had these 2 star trek lead roles.

ETA: regardless, I enjoyed the movie

Great story, not a great movie. Chris Pine was absolute dog shite in this movie. Rickman was awesome as always.

Not trying to be a dick, but I like Chris Pine, so I have to knight for him a little.

He starred in the following as either co-lead or sole lead actor:

Bottle Shock - Bo Barrett (lead)
Star Trek - Capt. Kirk (lead)
Unstoppable - Will (co-lead)
This Means War - FDR Foster (co-lead)
People Like Us - Sam (lead)
Rise of the Guardians - Jack Frost (lead)
Star Trek Into Darkness - Capt. Kirk (lead)
Jack Ryan (coming out this year) - Jack Ryan (lead)

Unstoppable, This Means War, Rise of the Guardians, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Jack Ryan are all big budget productions.

At the time he did Bottle Shock, he was not an A-List, leading man. I think he certainly qualifies now.

But, this has nothing to do with the movie Bottle Shock, which I've seen three or four times now and have enjoyed it every time.

On a side note, according to IMDB, the only movie listed above that made money at the box office was Star Trek. Perhaps that should disqualify him as an A-lister?

Wife and I watched it before we went to Napa in 2011. It made us visit Chateau Montelena and sample their wines. I'm not wild about chardonnay, but their estate cabernet is fricking amazing.

We went from there to Stag's Leap, which won the Cabernet portion of the 73' tasting of Paris. Cask 23, do it.

Good movie. Good wines.

It's funny, it is a slow movie, but I enjoy it about 1000x more than Sideways for sure. Given that I have a business trip to Napa every October, I really enjoyed the movie. Have watched it a couple times now.
