I play career mode with shitty teams and build them up so naturally my free kick takers suck. With that said on a free kick from 20 yards out or so, is there any way you can just try to shoot directly into the corner of the goal without bending around the wall or anything? If you try to bend or dip around wall with these guys, it will fly into the stand 99.99% of the time. But if you are head on at the goal about 20 yards out sometimes the best shot seems to be just taking a straight shot at the open corner of the goal. Anyone know how to do this? Tried just pressing circle (shoot) by itself and that didn't seem to work.

On PS3 hold L1

Eta: I don't know the Xbox equivalent, sorry!

Do you need to hold the left stick a certain way or just aim, hold L1 and shoot?

I just aim and hold L1, the more power the higher up it goes so if you wanted to roll it to the corner press less power.

May I suggest calling a 2nd player (L2 I think) holding that and pressing "X" will lay it off around the wall for a shot on goal. If you're sprinting watch your power, if you don't, watch out for defenders beating you to the ball.

Thanks. Yeah I've tried to lay it off to guys a few times with limited success. This was just trying to lay it off to ones around the taker. I've never used the L2 to call them in before. Will have to try that.

I'm still on 12, but for corners I hold the stick diagnolly up and towards the goal for an inswinger and try to place it just outside the 6 yard box usually. For power, halfway up the meter for front post and 3/4 for middle of box or back post. I've had the most success mixing between these two methods

This doesn't answer your question but there is a pretty big glitch on free kicks. If I'm trying to take a shot conventionally and bend it around a wall or whatever, I probably have a 10% success rate. But if you add a second taker and have him just lay it in front of the primary guy, you can get a very open runup and strike. I score like half the time from 18-22 yds out like that.

against people i know, i cant use LT+A because they know. but, online and shite, LT+A from like 25 in is pretty money. worst case, i usually get a corner.

im not good at free kicks though and never practice them, so if i hit them normal i just miss.

I watched some Youtube videos on free kicks and became pretty good at them with good FK takers. However, without one, it's pretty hopeless.

For corners (on '13) I use left footed on left corner and right footed on right corner, aim the screen at the keeper and do out swinging kicks (diagonally up + right/left) with about 3 bars of power. With Chelsea (Hazard and Mata on corners) I have about a 45% scoring rate... Which I am happy with... That sounds good in my head but I don't know how good of a percent that is. Usually one of my CBs scores.

I take the corner very quickly to try to not let the other guy get ready. It's important to use the left stick to try to get in front of the defender rather than just hope to beat him in the air. Try to time your header by only pushing B once at the right time rather than just mashing the button. Also I like to think the left trigger helps me body up other players on corners and give me more accurate headers but idk if that's actually true

I always take my free kicks by going around the wall with LBB and aiming the left stick all the way to the right or left.

If you were to kick it straight on, then you would miss. I always aim a little outside the wall and curl it in when I am taking a free kick for short and middle range free kicks. The LB means the kick will travel fast, so the goalie can parry it at best usually.

All three elements of power, curve, and accuracy tend to be somewhat important, but it allows you to make a lot of free kicks with shitty kickers. You can use this method with any distance with a wall. I have sunk quite a few from 35 yards plus and even hit a couple up to 43 yards and one magical free kick by cr7 of 47 yards.

On 12, can you do free kicks with rb still or does that call up another player? I hate that part of 13. It is literally my least favorite part of the game besides the shitty goal kicks. Curving around the wall is great from any angle, especially at a near impossible angle because the power fk cannot curve enough.

The key is to practice with it in the arena. Make sure you have set it to 11 on 11, so the box and wall are packed

I scored on a corner with Bale one time (swung it right into top near post corner)

After you charge up the kick power on free kick push up to put topspin on the ball... This helps greatly
