It would've been perfect if he had left after the song and then showed back up at Poor Richards. Could've done without the whole "America's Next Acapella" crap. They've just tried to force so much with him.
Jenna Fischer doesn't seem to get it. We didn't like Pam because she was "assertive." We didn't like her because she made a complete 180. We also didn't like her because she's stubborn as hell when it comes to Jim trying to make something of himself.
Tonight's going to be really sad. The writers know how to strike an emotional tone and they can write a good episode when they want to.
