Weird to anyone we have a guy hitting .363 on our bench?

While Stevenson is around the mendoza line.

I know we've discussed this at length, but it really is kind of crazy that Foster is hitting this well, and we arent talking about 10 at bats, he's had 44 at bats. Its possible he drops off and hits a rut, but until he does, he should be playing. And Stevenson still looks lost.

He should be a late inning defensive replacement and situational platoon starter replacing Laird if he goes cold. For now, Laird seems to have come out of it. So I'd say its time to put Foster back in the lineup (at least against Lefties) and Moore against Righty's.

I've been saying this for 3 weeks now. DH Rhymes and put Laird, Foster and McMullen out there.

I've been on the Foster bandwagon for a while this year. Offers some more speed and his bat seems to just have more pop than some of the other alternatives this year.

I wouldnt say he has pop. Only has 2 XBH in 44 AB.

If Foster was either a little more steady in the field, hit for more power or was more patient at the plate he'd probably start in front of Stevenson.

He doesn't have to play the field either, he could DH. He gets on base 10% more than Stevenson, that's huge.

Every time he is not in the line up it boggles my mind. He has proven to be a hitter so far this season and is a good enough fielder to get the job done. Stevenson is without a doubt the better fielder but he isn't a gold glover either, I just don't see him being THAT much better than Foster in the field to justify it.

Oh well still Omaha bound

I think we can afford one slap hitter like Laird/Stevenson in the lineup, but doubt we can go all the way with 2

For some reason Foster has a stigma that he can't hit. People like to use the high average/low number of at bats excuse, but his average isn't that far down from where it was before he started batting more.

Mainieri claims Stevenson might be the best defensive outfielder he's coached. I find that hard to believe with a couple of the weird angles and misplays Steveson's had. Mainieri is in love with the hyperbole, however.

LSU can definitely afford an outfield of Rhymes, Laird, and Foster. The bats more than make up for what little bit of speed Stevenson adds to the outfield.

DH Rhymes

Will. Not. Happen.

Rhymes is a Senior and with his ability to get drafted he has to have a position. Mainieri won't pull Rhymes to DH.

foster is too slow in the out field yes he is a better hitter than laird but his defense in out field is weak, laird and stevenson are better athletes,so that is why there playing.,and besides where are all these experts coming from saying laird is a slap hitter this isn't softball.

You are severely underrating fosters speed.

And regarding laird being a slap hitter, how many extra base hits does he have, how many HRs?

I wouldn't exactly call Foster slow. He's not Laird or Stevenson fast, but not many people are.

Not saying he has power just that the ball seems to come off his bat better/makes better contact than the others. Pop was the only way I could put into words.

You're watching LSU in higher scoring games than what you're going to see in Omaha and maybe the Supers.

The games that will decide the champion are probably going to be 2-1 scores, not 5-4. Defense will be vital. There is a huge difference between the outfield play of Stevenson and Foster.

I say play Stevenson.
