Tough to find a 1BR for $1000 or less but it can be done. I lived in the LGD for a grand in a decent sized 1BR before moving to the GD. Right now live in a shotgun split w/ my gf paying $1200.

I'm glad I'm not being outlandish with those numbers as I'm intending to use them in a salary/comp discussion in about 3 hours.
