Question about old Alex Box Stadium

I recall 3 numbers on the outfield wall recognizing retired numbers. At the new Alex Box there are only numbers for Bertman and McDonald. I thought the third number was for a former Tiger player killed during his duties as a police officer in Florida.
Was the player was last name Bush? Why is his number not in the new Box?

Do they have Pontiff at the New Box? I've never noticed it. I looked on the walls in the outfield and behind home plate. Maybe I'm just blind

Not his number, which was never officially retired. However, the Hall of Fame is named for him.

The story sounds right but Bush wasn't the name. I also think he had the same number as either Bertman or McDonald.
