What it basically says is that Phil noticed small flaws in the cards and used that to his advantage. It was at a British casino playing a game that is like baccarat. The casino let him play with as much as he wanted to and had no problem letting him keep playing when he was down. Doesn't sound like cheating to me. Sounds like he beat the system and now they won't pay him. Is this guy like some frikkin rain man that he could spot the tiniest differences in the deck. If they play with cards like blackjack, wouldn't they trade the decks out like they do here?

This

I guess its cheating the same way card counting is. Casinos dont like it when you frick with their advantage.

This seems like it was their problem and not his. Pay the man.

This is the second story in as many weeks of people taking advantage of a casino's screw ups and them not wanting to pay out.

I don't like that they feel like they shouldn't be held responsible for their errors.

This is fricking stupid. Is a batter in baseball cheating if he picks up on a pitcher tipping his pitches? frick no, he's just being smart.

like was said in the casino story the other day by somebody here, had the roles been reversed the casino would be calling it the house advantage.

too f-ing bad if they were so dumb they had cards out that could be identified in such a way it helped Ivey win.

also, its interesting that they let him keep playing when he was down and upped his bets but as soon as he won and wanted to cash out its "Oh no, you were cheating."

Don't we all just wish we could go into a casino and walk out $12 million richer?

How can a player be held accountable for cards that the casino has 100% control over. Unless the casino is accusing the player of marking the cards while they were in play, the casino hasn't got a leg to stand on except to claim their games have been corrupted by casino employess for the employees illicit purposes.

Phil Ivey is kinda like Rain Man when it comes to his powers of observation. There's a reason -- beyond just being able to calculate odds -- that he's considered the best poker player in the world.
