Was this show before its time, if so, would it translate well in today's world?

I don't see why it wouldn't. It was very well written, and there is an obsession with all things Alaska these days.

Meh, film credits get shitty reality shows.
NX wasn't liked by Alaskans but is loosely based on Talkeetna and Haines, AK. I always liked it, thought it had some good story lines and good characters.

Overall a good show. I wasn't a huge fan of Ed centric episodes but overall, I really enjoyed the series until Fleischman left.
I'm actually not sure it would last as long today as it did in its original run.
Quirky gets put to death pretty fast these days.

Would destroy Janie Turner.

I don't think he officially left the show. Around season 4, he tried to get a better contract and threatened to leave the show. So instead of giving into his threats, the producers started writing him out of more and more episodes. But he was never officially left or was totally removed from it.
As a fan of the show, I wish they would've just given in and paid him, because the later seasons weren't near as good in my opinion. The show was built on him being forced to stay in Cicely, and it slowly becoming his home. It turned into something completely different when his role diminished IMO.

quote:Rob Morrow (Fleishman) left midway through season 6. He thought his contractual obligation ended after season 5, but the show's lawyers said he still owed them x number of episodes. He's a minor character in season 6 and not in the last 10 or so episodes at all.

I knew he was in at least some of the season 6 episodes. But they did start changing the focus of the show when he tried to get a raise. I wish they would've just paid him. It wasn't the same after around the 4th season IMO.

I enjoyed it. I stuck with it longer than I stick with most shows which is usually about 2 years unless it's an outstanding show.
