I don't know how long ago this happened but I have never seen the video before and found it interesting. Maybe you will too.

Did he have a failure or did he seriously not have one in the chamber?

I saw that exact same thing.

Although he was able to get shots off, this is EXACTLY why there should ALWAYS be a round chambered. You never know if you're going to have enough time to rack and if you will successfully rack.

Since the robber was leaving the store, would that be a justified shooting?

lol at the cashier running around the front instead of the back.

I would say since he displayed a weapon, the threat wasn't neutralized with him simply walking away. I would say he was justified.

He just needs to keep a damn round chambered.

In the video description, the HERO says he didn't have a round chambered and safety was on. He said changing that was the "longest milliseconds of my life." One of my friends called me an idiot for carrying cocked and locked. I tried to explain to him why every advantage is needed. I think I'll show him this video.

Amen dude. Carrying an unloaded gun is idiotic.

As previously stated, stupid not to have one in the chamber.

In that situation, I doubt I would've drawn and fired. Obviously wasn't there, but it seemed as though the guy was on his way out and wasn't going to harm anyone. I know that's a big assumption to make, but damn there were a lot of people that could've gotten caught in a crossfire.

I think that may have been the main reason that the guy waited until his back was turned.

I get that, but he's leaving an awful lot to chance.

Wish there was audio.

Agreed.

The thing that sucks about being a CC'er is that you only have seconds to make a decision while the criminal gets as much time as he wants to consider robbing a place.

Whew, that one would have been a tough call. I can see what was probably going through his mind with all of the people around. I can't believe he didn't have a round chambered.

I would like to think I would've done what was needed in that situation, but I don't know. It says this was the guy's 3rd robbery, and being shot twice led to his arrest, preventing further robberies, where an innocent victim could be harmed. I know hindsight is 10w30, or whatever, but the CC'er did the right thing.

yea guy used a gun to rob a store, situations like that end in death more times than not, so what would you do? wait until the guy came back in etc you never know what an armed robber will do, too bad he did not plant that guy right there he had a clear shot, Was it justified? did the ccw get charged?

I'm certainly not knocking the guy for taking action. I think step 1 should've been to tell the people around him to get down. I don't know that it would've raised all that much suspicion since the perp is waving his gun all over the place. That would've at least gotten them out of the line of fire a bit.

If the perp had even pointed the gun behind him when running out and squeezed off a few, we could be seeing this in an entirely different light.

so what would you do?

Personally, I would've looked for an opening just like this guy did. But I wouldn't have been a dumbass carrying an empty handgun.

I don't think but I didn't read any articles about it.

Was it justified?

From my viewpoint, yes.

Besides just the fact that the threat may have been over, at what point do you say "enough is enough" when you have a tool to prevent this shite from happening again?

That's why I see concealed carry as such a great crime deterrent. Besides the fact that this guy may have waited too long, perps who hear about it will be even more on their toes worrying about getting their asses shot. That is EXACTLY the message citizens should be sending to criminals - enough is enough!

The filly farting around is why you should be locked and loaded if you're serious about defending yourself.
