Our 2 starting WRs were 5'11 and 6'0 in 2012 with Boone as the occasional starter. We needed a big guy, tall receiver that we could push the ball downfield with. In 2014 we would have Dural, Peterson, Spears, Blacknall, and Dupre and Upchurch who are all "at least" 6'2. We would also have Smith and Washington at TE so what is the point of wasting a spot on a one year player when you have legit 3 year talents right in your face

This is exactly my point. with tight numbers and so much WR talent, I'd rather take another freshman that we know will be here for at least 3 years.
