It has everyone else optimistic too. TV Line moved Community from "too early to tell" to "could go either way" to "a safe bet" just a few minutes ago.

Community is also sitting at 84 episodes. So, if it gets picked up, look for Sony to push for at least a 16 ep order instead of the normal 13 for a short season.

The problem for Community though is that NBC gains nothing from its post-first-run avenues. Sony is the studio, NBC only captures ad revenue. So some sort of ratings still need to justify their existence.

But I agree it looks good for them. NBC still needs to fill programming hours.

Word is when Sony gets close to the magic 100 number for syndication deals they practically pay the networks to renew and get the deal done. NBC also really really liked the pilot for a new Sony drama called Blacklist and wants it bad so Sony is using this as a negotiating tool right now.

it's a fricking shame that this show would be 'filler' in their mind

not bitching at you, i know what you meant.

i don't think this season has been nearly as good as the first three, but i've enjoyed it nonetheless, possibly because i can't look at it objectively anymore. if by some miracle, they were able to finagle #6seasonsandamovie, well, i'd jimp jimp jimp all day long
