i guess the browns should change names too, o wait Cleveland has has two teams named the browns

This is a good point, and it is much more complicated than the Washington Redskins.

Maybe someone here could help me out, but the Cleveland Browns were not "officially" named after Paul Brown, but everyone knew that's what it meant.

So, they made the team name the "Browns" (plural) and said it was in honor of Joe Louis, the Brown Bomber.

(This really should be its own thread, because it is a great topic, and I would like to thank StraightCashHomey21 for bringing it up).

Now, is the name the Cleveland Browns really named after Paul Brown, or Joe Louis?

Regardless, even if the team was named after "The Brown Bomber", is it the same as the Washington Redskins? The Cleveland Browns is named after one of the greatest fighters who fought in the most crooked time of boxing. The name was in honor of Joe Louis, not in degradation of him.

The Washington Redskins? Teams used names like "Redskins" because Native Americans were seen as savages. That doesn't necessarily seem like an honor to me.
