Off the top of my head at 7:00 a.m., McCartney, further, Stevie wonder, ABB, Phish, Mule, TAB, Lettuce, Soulive, London Souls, New Mastersounds, Trombone Shorty (really any of the good new Orleans brass or funk bands can be put here). Leftover Salmon, Gary Clark Jr., the word, Robert Randolph, Tedeshi trucks band, warren Haynes band, Primus, Phil and Friends, Jackie Green, Railroad Earth.

There are more, and not everyone I mentioned is better than everyone you listed, but a good festival needs a higher percentage of acts I would be looking forward too

yes, by ACL's standards that's a mediocre lineup.

See, I think that Wilco is one of the best live bands out there right now. Not too much thats "average" about them.

I just really dont enjoy their music, but I would see them at a festy because they have a grand production

In my experience, and I have seen wilco definitely twice and I think part of another set at a festival, I just wasn't blown away. Talented and fun, but not great IMO, maybe just isn't my style.

But even if I put them up there in the get me excited category, the festival he listed doesnt have a lot of mid to low names that I would look forward to.

Is that the ACL lineup?

I agree with all of this.

Wilco is amazing live, but i could see how they would just seem ok at a festival. They play for close to 3 hours at their shows and im always blown away. To each his own.

Yeah, it is.

I really love Wilco, so im biased.

I dont think that that is a great lineup, but its not awful. I agree that there arent enough names to draw me to Austin for ACL.

I certainly wouldn't go, but there are several bands there I'd like to see I haven't

All you have listed plus Phoenix, tame impala and foxygen (they're on there right?)

All bands I haven't seen, except wilco

ACL isn't really a jam band centered fest so I can see why many on this board wouldn't care for it.

If this was Voodoo's lineup people would be going apeshit about how great it is.

Sure. And they'd be right. But they also wouldn't be paying $225 for it.

The lineup is thoroughly underwhelming. It's not terrible and there's a few bands I'd want to see, but it's not worth the price of admission and spending three days in the sun. There's a lot of "headphones" bands who have no idea how to play a good live show. Muse certainly does, I'm just not a fan. QOTSA, Arctic Monkeys, and the National would be my personal headliners, though I guess I wouldn't mind seeing a bloated Robert Smith put on some white pancake makeup and pretend it's 1987. I'm not much one for nostalgia acts, once you've missed it you've missed it, but I would like to see the Cure one more time.

But the undercard doesn't much excite me, and I'd rather spend the same amount of money to buy a flight to Baltimore to see Neutral Milk Hotel.

I guess, but even so, its not THAT impressive.

Not awful, not great.

And i agree GnarCat, some of the bands that he didnt list are ones that I would be excited about.

Also, i realize im being a hypocrite from the initial Habgout lineup threads

I personally don't care for the music of the cure, muse, and kings of Leon. So those choices of headliners are pretty weak in my opinion. Muse makes sense as a headliner because of their popularity. The other two I mentioned don't. Arctic Monkeys and Queens of the Stone Age should have taken those spots as headliners and ACL should have used the money for more second and third line worthy artists.

That said, there are several artists I would like to see on that list. AM and QotSA included. I just wouldn't pay over $150 for that lineup.

It is hilarious how scared of the "jam band culture" you are.

Oh my god, they are dancing and doing drugs!!!
