There would have been no Monkey Man without him.
Not true. Brian Jones didn't even play on that song.
In fact I'd say "Monkey Man" is Keith Richards' greatest playing. That slide guitar solo is perfect. Fans of Duane Allman should check it out if they have been living under a rock. Keith has played better riffs, but this is bar none his best solo- on slide nonetheless.

Brian Jones was the Monkey Man.
Of course he did. Where do you get that he didn´t play on that song?

Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and recorded in April 1969, the song's introduction features distinctive vibraphone, bass and guitar, as well as piano. Richards plays the main guitar riff as well as the slide guitar solo, Jagger provides vocals, producer Jimmy Miller plays tambourine, Nicky Hopkins plays piano, Charlie Watts provides drums, while Bill Wyman plays vibraphone and bass.

Richards played both rhythm and lead?
He didn´t play the vibraphone, from your cut and paste, I see.
Anyway, he was The Monkey Man. He was the one that pulled all the lemon squeezers (got the girls).
