I remember hearing a story of a yankees player (I believe it was Lou) who was inserted into the lineup when the Yankees starter got injured. And the rest was history... Does anybody know who that first baseman was??

And am I even correct in remembering Lou Gehrig as that person? It could be someone else, but I am pretty sure it was a Yankee Hall of Famer.

Dude. I looked this same thing up a few months ago and could remember who it was either. I was thinking it was ripkin and didnt have any luck. So maybe it was gehrig

eta: It was gehrig, because I was thinking it was the longest consecutive games played streak except ripkin broke it.
