I think Downey views Avengers 2 as the last hurrah for Iron Man, or at least him as Tony Stark. He's gonna make as much as he can, and walk away. What's cool is that it seems he is taking his castmates along for the ride. He's taking care of them as well. This is the brass ring. Get what you can, cash out, and then spend the rest of your career making whatever the hell you want. Ruffalo can go back to starring in apparently every single independent film. He'll have the money to not care about box office.

Ruffalo will need this, because there is only so much they can do with the Hulk. All that talk about World War Hulk and Planet Hulk was bullshite. They can't do those movies because they can't make a Hulk movie without Banner.

Agreed. And who can blame him? Nobody wants to do the same movie over and over. The first Iron Man came out 5 years ago...that's a long time to be tied to something, even if you enjoy it. I know he had other things (like Sherlock Holmes for example), but I'm sure he's ready to move on.
And let's not be mistaken, none of the cast is gonna starve because they aren't making money.
