Disney knows what's up. Didn't they pay Johnny Depp inordinate amounts of money for the Pirates movies? And they did that because they knew those movies (especially the last few) were gonna make BANK. Same with Avengers...when you can safely expect your movies to make billions, you're more likely to pay the actors appropriately (especially someone as important as your lead guy).

I think Downey views Avengers 2 as the last hurrah for Iron Man, or at least him as Tony Stark. He's gonna make as much as he can, and walk away. What's cool is that it seems he is taking his castmates along for the ride. He's taking care of them as well. This is the brass ring. Get what you can, cash out, and then spend the rest of your career making whatever the hell you want. Ruffalo can go back to starring in apparently every single independent film. He'll have the money to not care about box office.

well Disney paid Depp whatever he wanted because he was really the only draw they needed with that franchise, pretty easy decision there.
