on planet Earth?

I think we can all agree that Lebron surpassed Kobe by 2009 or 2010 at the latest. So how early did this occur? 2006 ECF against the Pistons? I personally don't think it was until around 08/09

and please, no 2002 SVSM type of responses

Year 2,pretty clearly Imo. I think it was 2005.

27/7/7,and I think he had a PER higher than Kobe ever has.

Bottom line, Kobe never produced that much and that efficiently combined.

According to some on this board, it's still a toss up.

LBJ was drafted in 03 making the 03-04 season his first.

EDT: just adding a point of clarification.

I think the real question is when was Kobe ever the best player in the NBA? Guys like Duncan, Shaq, Garnett, Dirk, and Lebron have always made it where he wasn't the best at that particular moment.

Started game 5 in Detroit in 07 and had clearly passed him by game 6 in Boston last year. Kobe is great individually, but he doesn't make his team great. LBJ carried Larry Huges, Big Z, AV, Jamario Moon and Sasha P to the finals. Thats not exactly a dream team. After Shaq left Kobe couldn't elevate his team that's why they went out in first round and miss the playoffs the 2 years before they got Gasol. He doesn't make the game easier for his role players.

Compare 2005 Lebron to 2005 Kobe. I don't see how Kobe was clearly better, at all.

Lebron's PER in 2005-2006 was 28.1. Kobe's PER in the same season was 28.0. That difference is far too small to say pretty clearly. Come on shel.

The earliest realistic answer is 2007-2008. I would probably say 2008-2009 because Lebron had a phenomenal season in his age 24 year.

ETA: In order to pass someone, you have to clearly be better. At absolute best, Lebron pulled even with him in that season.
