For the 2014 basketball class. I don't believe he held an LSU offer, but we had interest.

This is pretty surprising.

I know in the past when top talent committed out of state it was because of the staffs shortcomings. I don't feel like this is the case here. While I would have liked Cornish on the tigers, I can't help but feel like we're in on bigger fish right now that has enabled him to commit out of state.

Good luck to him though. Speaks well to the in state talent right now.

We do. It's an outside chance that we get him, but we do have serious connections to him.

David Patrick aussie recruiter

But, I wont say we lead for him, but have as good a shot as anyone. Indiana is the big competition for him. NBA probably too...

We are signing a huge class most likely with Golden, McRae, Maymon, Edwards, and Stokes (in all likelihood) all gone after next year.

This seems to be a decent start for us. Seems like he will be a good 2nd-3rd wing option at the college level. Obviously we are both going after Jalen Lindsey.

What are your alls thoughts on Cornish's game?

Damn. I don't feel confident enough in Exum to let Tennessee snag him already.

Nice pickup, Vols

He went to Brother Martin...alma mater of the great D.J. Augustine.

He seems to be a good kid who hustles his arse off. A fairly impressive offer sheet with Oklahoma, Wake Forest, Houston, Purdue and Texas El-Paso. A good pickup for Tennessee.

Tennessee was in very good shape with Lindsey outside of a possible UNC offer as recently as late last week.

However, Tennessee may have hurt their chances with the handling of another Huntington Prep kid who Tennessee signed in November and was just cut loose due to oversigning.

Sad. I hoped LSU would get on him. I know we're holding out for better guys, but he's still a good player in LA.

I think LSU is going after bigger fish and was waiting to see how he performed on the summer circuit. Good for him. Victor, Oubre, and Exum come on down!

Cornish was definitely a backup plan, but I wish he would have held out on committing till we get into next season.

LSU may not have a ton of spots available in next season's class, but you never know. A early departure from Hickey, O'Bryant, or Martin are all possible and we will have Stringer and Coleman graduating.

Ya he committed much earlier than expected. But maybe the staff has some strong feelings about some of the guys they're recruiting. It's still very early, who knows he could get an offer and flip.

He wasn't the best player on his own team. He is good, but I am honestly surprised at some of the offers he had.

This. He lacks court vision and his decision making is highly suspect at times. Tennessee is taking him as a security blanket bc they could have anywhere from 6-8 scholarships to fill for the 2014 class depending on NBA early departures. With that being said, he does possess some raw skills that can't be taught. I hope he does well at Tennessee
