Kind of a spin off of the TD.com poll after I ranked my teams, it got me thinking:

Since we're a virtual lock for a national seed, much less a regional host, we haven't really discussed other regional host spots.

I know there's no rhyme or reason for the selection committee's decisions sometimes, but maybe this could give us a good inkling into who we might be paired up with in our National Seed Regional.

My 16 regional host predictions as of 5/5/13:

SEC (5) - Vandy, LSU, SC, MSU, Arky
ACC (4) - UNC, Virginia, NC State, Florida State
Pac 12 (3) - Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA
Big Ten (1) - Indiana
Big West (1) - Cal State Fullerton
Sun Belt (1) - South Alabama* (my guess who we get paired up with)
Big East (1) - Louisville

Others in consideration: Oklahoma (Big 10), Arizona State (Pac 12), Virginia Tech (ACC), Clemson (ACC)

I bet Oklahoma gets a bid for the sake of letting the big 12 have one host

I kind of thought of that too along the same reasoning, but they went 1-3 this week. Their current RPI is at 45. Ouch.

On a side note, does Texas athletics try at anything anymore?

Arky has a great argument as to why they should host. 15-8 in the SEC finishing up with Tennessee and Auburn. Will possibly finish the year with 20 SEC wins in 29 tries. That's normally good enough to win the whole damn conference. Series wins against Miss State (10 RPI) and series sweep of South Carolina (11 RPI).

The RPI is what's holding them down. Bad scheduling.

I think Arky will end up hosting. Clemson has a decent shot at hosting too. They still have 2 with Maryland and then @FSU which is tough.

Both teams are good RPI boosters.

Yes definitely, it is hard getting into the committee's head. You seem to have it spread out pretty well between conferences and geographically which seems to be what they like to do.

Looking ahead at remaining schedules it seems like alot of teams have chances to boost RPI(Clemson, Ole Miss), its just whether they will be good enough to capitalize.

Ole Miss needs to finish strong to have even a shot at a regional host. I think they lost their shot this weekend losing 2 of 3 to Auburn. They are now 12-12 in SEC with series left vs. Miss State (RPI 10) and @LSU (RPI 4). They will be very lucky to get through that gauntlet 3-3 resulting in a 15-15 SEC record. That is not good enough IMO to get a regional host.

I think Arky and Ole Miss is an "either/or" scenario. Not only would Ole Miss need to go 4-2 against MSU and LSU but Arky would have to slip up.

Arkansas' schedule doesn't really hurt them as much as losing all those games hurts them.
