The facts disagree. Lebron is the best player. The best player provides the most value.

Lebron's team suffers at a bigger rate than Melo's when they are both off the court.

Furthermore, the Knicks are better than the Heat when both stars are on the bench. This isn't based on my opinion, but based on the actual numbers when both are off the court.

You replace LeBron with the league average SF then the Heat are still the top seed in the East.

You replace Carmelo with the league average SF then the Knicks are a 40 win team hoping for the 8th seed.

Context. Stats tell very little of the story.
