I guess you did miss the FINALS (note I said FINALS, not regular season). Hakeem schooled him.

You can tell that's nonsense with just a brief look back at the playoffs (and especially the finals) from that year

Orlando/Houston Finals: Shaq vs Hakeem Comparison:

Shaq

28 PPG
.5945 FG% (44 FGM/74 FGA)
12.5 TRB/Game
6.25 Assists/Game
2.5 Blocks/Game
0.25 Steals/Game

Hakeem

32.75 PPG
.4827 FG% (56 FGM/116 FGA)
11.5 TRB/Game
5.5 Assists/Game
2 Blocks/Game
2 Steals/Game

Although it bucks conventional wisdom a 23 year old Shaq probably outplayed Hakeem at his peak (especially note the difference in efficiency, Hakeem could not stop Shaq)

Also note in teh playoffs Hakeem had been shooting a higher field goal percentage prior to going up against Shaq. Also note Shaq's field goal percentage remained consistent in teh finals compared to the postseason as a whole - a ridiculous 60%.

No he didn't. I don't know how old some of you are, but after that quick 4 game sweep of a Finals, there was really no doubt who was the best center in the league. You are trying to use fg% to revise history.

And Shaq was a 23 yr old and a physical specimen. Hakeem was 32/33 and in his 11th year in the league. He obviously wasn't the athlete he was a few years prior
