I like it because knowing everything that is happening isn't very exciting.

It gives us a glimpse into Arya's future that we may not have seen in the books... Pretty cool

Well it's pretty clear that we're not getting Edric Storm. Gendry is going to have to take place of that since he's the only known bastard with king's blood left. Melisandre was going to have to retrieve Gendry so that was going to require her meeting up with them to do so.
I liked the interaction with her and Arya. The foreshadowing to her time with the Faceless Men is great setup. Arya calling Melisandre out as a witch is great.
I don't know why someone wouldn't like the departure.
