re: Jeremy Hill's Indefinite Suspension

I'm not sure what elite means, except that LF is. The two backs offered for 15 aren't elite by this standard, so neither is Sione. I do think Sione is better than those two, though, unless speed, strength, agility and ball skills aure not important. Maybe height is more important to some, but I don't share that belief.
Btw, I do think the other two ARE very good and have no problem with their offers.

I think the offer is there for the taking with Sione. Just needs to go to camp and outperform Darrel Williams. Or they'll both be too good to pass up. I like Palelei, I see his floor as Michael Ford and I was always comfortable with Ford out there on the field or Ford being our starter.

Of course all of this goes bak to the outcome of the case. It's hard to speculate when we really don't have a clue as to what I going to happen in court. He very well may have the charges dropped and walk away clean.
Found guilty or not, the main problem I have with the young men who have the opportunity to play collegiate sports at an institution as as LSU is their decision making. They have to start realizing that they are NOT just a "regular" student. There are some students and others walking amongst them that resent the fact that they are there on an athletic scholarship. I know this may sound strange, but there are people that will take an arse whoopin at the hands of an college athlete just to get that athlete in trouble. They will say and do certain things to push buttons hoping to get a reaction out of them. They have to understand and learn to recognize these situations and avoid them. Walk Away!

I agree that he shouldn't have even in the situation an has to realize he's not a regular student, but if the charges or dropped or if he's found not guilty I just cant agree with punishing him.

re: Jeremy Hill's Indefinite Suspension

Yep I've kept up on Cook and realize how much of a monster backfield Florida is going to have. Add in Will Grier/Greer (sp?) and they will be a force on offense again.

I also finally see what Bowtie says about small players albeit I think he's seen Palelei in person and at camps to get a better read on him. I like Duke Johnson at Miami and Joseph Yearby(who will also be at the U). Yearby looks like the running back version of Speedy Noil.

I'm crossing my fingers to us pulling in Racean Thomas, that freshman tandum of him and Fournette will surpass Gurshall by miles.

Joseph Yearby is a beast. I would definitely consider him an elite back... I think he and Cook is better than Sony Michelle...i will have to research Johnson and Greier(Greer)...I don't know much about Palelei however I did meet him in person and I must say I like him...

Sione has a MUCH greater change of direction than Ford. Ford had no shake with his bake, Palelei has both.

Really? Ain't no time to shake and bake on this level...most shakers and bakers get their heads knocked off! All you get is one cut and you had better have Str8 line speed! Sometimes str8 line speed doesn't help the way these guys be flying around! Ask Oregon how that worked out when they played us and Auburn, that SHI got shut down!

What exactly are we waiting on when it comes to the Hill situation? Waiting for legal issues to pass before Miles can make a decision?

Ford had to STOP to cut, Palelei doesn't, thats what I meant. Also doesnt hurt to be able to juke someone in the open field. Ford couldn't do this. Watch Palelei's video, Jrevonte.
. Trent Richardson stopped in holes, hopped and exploded. He did pretty well.

These guys have to stop to cut because of the bodies that were in their way...Ford has outright speed! dude out runs defenders in the open field no need to juke...he runs his sweeps all the way to the sideline then turns up (he relies on the receivers block) and scats...he rarely ever runs between the tackles...

Richardson is str8 power. He can go thru a defender or wait for that opening cut to it and burst thru...there is no shake and bake!

Ill watch Palelei's highlights and get back with you...but I'll tell you this its hard to compare him to these collegiate athletes because these collegiate athletes are taught to run the way that they do...go to LSU's practice and watch how the running backs practice....they get one cut no shake no back! If you get in the open field you outrun the defender no waiting...in the summer these guys run 40-40yd dash sprints amongst other drills...why? Because LSU teaches speed no dancing...in the SEC dancing gets you killed...

re: Jeremy Hill's Indefinite Suspension

Hill, Blue, etc shake people in the open field, Ford couldn't, that's why they moved ahead of him. No knock on him at all, he was extremely strong and fast.
I didn't start the comparison; I completely agree its impossible when you look at the competition the HSers are running against.
Having coached many years, I understand the one cut and go.
Palelei runs a 4:4, he can go.

re: Jeremy Hill's Indefinite Suspension

HIll, Ford, Blue, Hilliard(moved ahead of Ford because he got injured! At LSU if you move you lose. It has been that way since Saban was here)

Each one of these guys have highlights on this video....where do they shake a defender in the open field? They don't do all the dancing... What you see is str8 line running....no stop and start no heavy shoulder or hip movement....neither one of these guys look like a Reggie Bush....they shite and git!

Ill take your word on the fact that he runs a 4.4 but I still can't compare him to Ford....look at fords run; Ford is a 220 LB speed back....no wasted movement just shite and get

Hell if you want to compare him to someone compare him to Leonard Fournette...Even Fournette is a str8 line runner...which is the reason he is heavily sought after...220lbs moving towards the endzone no dancing he cuts to the opening and scats

re: Jeremy Hill's Indefinite Suspension

Lol, Again, I never compared Palelei to anyone, someone else did and I disputed it. You don't have to take my word for his speed, NUC, Under Armor and the VO something Combines timed him. Readily available info on that. I don't like comparing HS kids to any College players. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. The trick to Recruiting is projecting the kids to your system. I trust Frank to do this.

re: Jeremy Hill's Indefinite Suspension

i just watch Palelei's highlights. he is not a shaker either! kid can go...better worry about him coming to LSU and being turned into a WR Kid has an awesome set of hands....

quote:

I do think Sione is better than those two, though, unless speed, strength, agility and ball skills aure not important. Maybe height is more important to some, but I don't share that belief.

Whether he is better than Brossette and Guice is up for debate...from what i understand Sione is 5'9 199, right? at 4.4 forty yard dash speed he definitely is faster than both Brossette and Guice but what they lose in speed they make up for with size, power, and awareness. Derrius is 5'11 205lbs at 4.5 and Broussette is 6 foot 215 lbs at 4.6.

Some people think that LSU is moving away from the Trindon Holiday type backs unless they have big hands....

Yes, Big hands! i was shocked too, Trindon was the fastest player in College Football...and he is one of the fastest players in the league.

Some people think that on this level the smaller backs with small hands have a higher propensity to fumble the football when they are struck by these bigger Defensive players.
