I understand...

JJ was accused of a felony and only missed 6 or 7 games... Hill was only charged with simple battery so I would expect his situation to be different unless yet take into account that this is his 2nd run in with the law...

i was actually talking about the open spot in the backfield not scholarship wise

Ah, sorry, mis read that, but yes, I think he was a good shot to go pro so the sport would be open anyway.

he was let back after the charges were reduced i think. I would think the same would happen with Hill.

Are there any circumstances that would allow Hill to return to the team?

Of course.

will he return? that I dont know.

Hill's issues would not make good recruiting pitch material. Hill is a gifted player and will play if he is able to return. I think if Hill rehabilitates his standing, does well in school and gets both a degree and a pro contract, that would make great recruiting material. But Hill's current situation is simply unfortunate.

The only affect this can have on recruiting is negative.

Hill was in a position to go pro after a kick arse year. Now LSU has no Hill in the backfield possibly to pile up yardage and make LSU look good. Possibly.

No ROOM is made and it could be Hill stays at LSU after loosing this year to legal matters. Now he is taking a spot that would have been available to someone else.

There are NO positives here.

None of the above is a prediction of what will happen. It is only stuff that COULD happen. And it is all bad. Can't think of a single senerio that it helps.

It does make me wish they had gotten Adam Taylor last season.

I don't look for Hill to be back in 2014, anyway. Hilliard and Blue will be gone, then, too..Only see Magee back for 2014, so yes, we need to get 3 IMO, and Sione is a take IMO.

I'm not too sure that being 'indefinitely suspended' = kicked off the team forever
IMO he's done! With all that has happened in the last few years with Hill while he was still in high school, the fight involving Jordan Jefferson, the allegations about the failed drug tests of Mathieu (whether they are true or not), now Hill is in trouble again. I think the program has no choice but to let him go permanently if for no other reason than to set an example. I don't know all of the circumstance surrounding Hill's latest incident so I can't comment on how or who started the fight. I personally think he should have been smart enough to realize he has to walk away from certain situations.

See I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to post it for fear of backlash. Maybe for violating probation he gets suspended 4 games(ala JJ) or half a season. See a lot of you guys aren't seeing the bigger effect that could have. What if Hilliard and Blue are running like Lacy and Yeldon last year (or Gurley and Marshall)? It's certainly was a possibility before Blue was injured and Faulk was injured.

through three games:
Blue 270yds 2TDs, 7rec 45yds
Hilliard 303yds 6TDs

On the ground they had accounted for 191yds and 2.6 TDs a game(206yds a game if you count the reception yards)

Eddie Lacy 126yds 4TDs rec 10yds
TJ Yeldon 191yds 2TDs 6rec 91yds

Accounted for 106yds rushing and 2TDs a game(139 total yards a game)

Todd Gurley 276yds 4TDs
Keith Marshall 182yds TD rec 3

153yds rushing a game 1.6TDs a game (154yds a game total)

We all had fairly even opponents so whose to say our guys wouldn't have done the same if the line had been adequent and we didn't lose Blue?

TL; DR what I'm getting at is what if they are producing again on the same level, Hilliard 6 games in with 550yds and 10TDs, Blue 620yds and 8TDs? I'm thinkinh Hill leaves because he's eligible and he'd beat some guys out at camp, Blue and Hilliard would leave because both would break 1000yds and double digit TDs. They'll look at Blue's recieving skills and quickness and Hilliard's power and ability to break away and both would get good grades for the draft which would cause Hilliard to declare.

Now you have Magee and RB/WR Brazil to beat out.

Why probation when you plead guilty to carnal knowledge of a juvenileto which is a misdemeanor? Simple battery is also a misdemeanor. so he is possibly guilty of two misdemeanors. He as i understand it threw one punch after being provoked. Should he have walked away YES. Should he go to jail, lose his scholly Hell NO. Courts should not give favor to
athletes but they should not punish them more because they are athletes. I got my law degree from watching TV so i will undoubtedly be corrected by those here who actually know the law.
But two misdemeanor don't constitute a felony. And i bet the guy who got wacked in the head wasn't totally without fault. If he were Joe Nobody would he even be arrested in this situation?

If he's found guilty, then I agree. All of that remains to be seen though.

In the event that the only punishment he receives is stricter probation rules, do you still think he deserves to be dismissed from the team just to set an example? I think that's a little harsh and unfair to an extent.

Of course all of this goes bak to the outcome of the case. It's hard to speculate when we really don't have a clue as to what I going to happen in court. He very well may have the charges dropped and walk away clean.
