Enjoyable movie. Nothing overly complicated or deep.
Gary Oldman was fricking money though. Easily stole the show.
Overall, not as good as I was expecting, but still a good movie.

There was a thread a couple of days ago talking about a sequel...

Love this movie. Enjoyed young Natalie and the French-Spanish dude, but yes Oldman stole the show.

Absolutely

That's going overboard, as both Portman and Reno were fantastic as well.

Agreed. I liked their characters better and how they were played. Oldman was awesome though.

Good solid movie, nothing amazing but just good. I am also upset I was beaten to the everyone quote but I should have expected it.

Like many of his movies, Other actors have larger roles. As someone mentioned in the "sequel" thread, a prequel on his character would have been great. Can't do that now with him being 17 years older.
Thirteen year old Natale Portman was perfect as the tough little girl. Her smoking, cursing, "he's my lover" humor & willingness to learn to kill were all great but the Charades performance & the way she handled scenes like the, "Leon, I think I'm kinda falling in love with you", let you know she was still just a kid.
Jean Reno was a great hitman with a heart. Maybe the biggest heart ever for such a character.
Luc Besson is a pretty prolific action writer.
La Femme Nikita
Léon: The Professional
The Fifth Element (story)
The Transporter (story)
Taken (story)
From Paris with Love (story)
Even if you didn't like some of the movies, the stories are pretty good.
Colombiana (2011) may be the closest we get to a Leon,TP sequel. It's got some pretty good scenes.
I think I'm going to find a way to watch one of his earlier works, The Last Battle (1983). Sounds like it will either be great or a stinking pile.

In the post-apocalyptic future, only a few humans are left. No one is able to speak; the film contains no dialogue, and characters communicate non-verbally
That might pooh pah the Terrance Malick fanboys.

What'l makes the movie great is the fact it was written and put together I just a few months. Besson wrote it kinda as a joke and it ended up being the best thing he's ever done.
Now don't get me wrong I still love The 5th Element.
