quote:BS whether you're using a 30-06 or an Atlatl you need to practice or limit yourself to manageable distances. I can't tell you the times I've seen "novices" come into a bow shop and by the time the staff has their bow set up and fitted to them they're shooting accurate enough to kill a deer out to 20yds. So the easier to learn excuse is BS too. What's easier is Daddy can cock it for them and they can prop it up to help hold it steady when shooting. As far as shooting free handed I'll take a compound over a crossbow anyday. IMHO a compound is smoother, better balanced and quieter than a Xbow.
The biggest thing for novices is you don't have to practice

Cuz they're legal.
