What's your favorite Bogart movie?

I'm kind of torn between Casablanca and The African Queen.
Casablanca may be the more classically "great" movie- well made, well structured, well acted. With a simple but strong plot and memorable scenes. It had some great iconic lines that stood he test of time. It had some great supporting characters too - especially Captain Reynaud, and of course the Sidney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre characters.
But for some reason, The African Queen has always held a special place among movies for me. It is kind of the quintessential awkward developing love story and I'm not sure it's ever been surpassed in that genre. Both Bogart and Hepburn were lights out acting in it. (I think it won him his only Oscar). It was pretty light on plot but as a character study, budding romance movie I love it.
Of course, his best acting may have come in The Caine Mutiny but I don't think I'd put the movie itself up there with those two (talking for just myself of course).

Of course, African Queen and Casablanca are awesome. But as a kid growing up, my favorite Bogy movie was The Maltese Falcon.

, but my dad is a huge Bogart fan and so I saw all of those growing up.

The Caine Mutiny is my favorite. Even though I have the movie I will start watching when it comes on tv and view the entire movie again. His performance as Commander Queeg is tops.

I agree with virtually all of your post. It is fun to watch him in The Caine Mutiny because it's still Bogey.
Another performance of note is Treasure of the Sierra Madre. ANOTHER deranged, antagonistic performance by Bogey. Even better, in this case, though, as we see the descent into dysfunction. In Caine, he was already pretty messed up when we meet him, although he has lucid intervals.

Didn't really follow Hemingway's story and I really wouldn't rank it up there with Casablanca or Sierra Madre but damn, Bacall was hot.
